Réjean Marois

Mike AngellQuébec-native Réjean Marois conducts three vocal jazz ensembles, NiteCap, Capital Jazz and Vocal Combo, as well as the university's "A" Band in Capilano University's Jazz Studies program, as well as teaching vocal improvisation, arranging and composition, and conducting.

The Capilano University Jazz Series concerts has included performances of NiteCap and "A" Band with internationally renowned jazz artists including pianists Kenny Werner and Cedar Walton; arrangers Bob Mintzer, Fred Stride and Dave McMurdo; vocalists Kurt Elling, Ranee Lee, Dee Daniels, Denzal Sinclair and Nnenna Freelon.

He was nominated for a Genie Award (Canadian Academy of Cinema) for his original soundtrack for the movie "Les Doux Aveux" (1983). Réjean has published original works for jazz band, choir, jazz choir and concert band, is a staff writer for the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Press, and has collections of education material through Marois Music Publications. He is in demand throughout North America as a clinician, adjudicator, conductor, music advisor and arranger.
